An individual learning to drive a  motor vehicle in the Bahamas must possess a learner’s permit.  Permit holders should ensure that permits are valid before test driving any vehicle.  Learner’s permits are valid for six months and are renewed once the permit has become expired or near expiration.

Further, permit  holders when driving any motor vehicle, must carry the prescribed “L” plates at the front and back of the vehicle and should always be accompanied by a person having a valid driver’s licence for not less than two years.
