FREEPORT, Grand Bahama — Expansion for a new manufacturing plant at PharmaChem Technologies (Grand Bahama) Ltd. was officially initiated with a ground breaking ceremony on Thursday March 31, 2016 on the facility site on West Sunrise Highway, Freeport, Grand Bahama.

President of PharmaChem, Pietro Stefanutti said reactivating the site is one of the proudest moments of his professional life.  It was in 2002, Mr. Stefanutti acquired PharmaChem and, he said, the time has come to take another step ensuring that PharmaChem is a viable and sustainable operation for years to come.

Work is set to begin and plant completion is expected in early 2019.  It was stated that some 200 jobs will be created after the expansion, not including the jobs that will become available during the expansion period.  This new state-of-the-art facility, supported by Gilead Sciences Inc., will provide life-saving drugs.
